Ticket & Orientation Building

As a major element of the Master Plan for the Mystic Seaport Museum, a new entranceway and Reception Building were constructed to make a visit to the museum more inviting and enjoyable.

The building design was guided by the site circulation requirements for visitor flow, . The traditional and durable materials used are likewise in keeping with the nautical character and recalls the Victorian structures of the surrounding town.

The facility serves ticketing and information functions, and features a special exhibit area that introduces visitors to the museum's collections. In addition, the building blends with the historic buildings contained in the seaport, while acting as a distinctive landmark to differentiate the Museum from other nearby tourist attractions.

John P. Campbell was responsible for design and implementation of the project. Winner of Boston Socety of Architects Design Award. (At Sasaki Associates, Inc.)
